Despite writing that I would be coming home soon, I am pretty much still stuck here and have ample time to plot a list of the things I want to do when I go back. I'll post my list here so that my fellow Malaysians can suggest things that I may have overlooked.
Food to be savoured
Food to be savoured
- Sambal tumis petai (Mama and/or Mak)
- Sambal goreng petai (Mama and/or Mak)
- Sambal udang (Mama and/or Mak)
- Asam pedas daging (Mama and/or Mak) Basically, anything that Mama or Mak (my grandma) prepares, I'll stuff my face with with glee, but these 4 come tops of the list.
- Nasi Ayam Hainan (Hainanese Chicken Rice)
- Nasi Lemak Ayam Bangsar lengkap dengan tikus-tikus berlari-larian di celah-celah meja
- Char Kuey Teow Bangsar beserta perkara di atas
- Ikan bakar Umbai (maybe several sessions of this)
- Mee hoon sup gerai tepi Bukit China
- Roti canai, murtabak, roti telur dan yang seumpama dengannya
- Maggi goreng dengan telur goyang
- Teh Ais - copious amount of
- Ramlee beef burgers! With the patty wrapped in a thin layer of egg without chilli sauce but copious amount of mayonnaise, yumm.. (Exclamation mark because I actually got excited when I remembered it, yes, I'm that sad)
- Air mata kucing
- Kacang botol
- Rambutan
- Mangga
Things to do
- Go to the dentist for a check up
- Spend a few days at the beach (this time for real)
- Buy books by Malaysian authors (Amir Muhammad comes to mind)
- Read all editions of Off The Edge that I've missed
- Watch a play
- Take pictures for pet project (more on this later)
- Read Malaysian newspaper and try not to bang one's head against my mom's wall
- Lepak kedai Mamak
- Get drug supplies (uh, does a tube of cream to stop itchiness when I have eczema count as drug? Oh yeah another tube for the less itchy Tall Dane)
- Go for an eye check up and actually ask for my prescription for keeps
- Buy the latest softwares
Top thing to do
Spend time with loved ones - friends and family. Have a feeling there's a lot to bitch about, hehe.
I hope I won't get a heart attack for the amount of greasy food I want to consume in such a short span of time. On that note, please feel free to add to the list!

Have a safe journey home!
Sampai Bangsar jangan lupa telefon. That's my territory.
Kalau Melaka, tak payah. Hehe.
How long u will be there?
3 dishes a day should fill your list, plan well.
What about seafood? Can't get that cheap in the UK. Kuih & desserts? Otak2, mamak stuff, satay, et al., sup tulang dan sewaktu dengannya... Too much!
Remember to meet some new ADUN or YB and switch off RTM, TV3, ASTRO & NTV7 if you can tahan! LOL!
I miss the beach, nothing like that here.
Take care. Bon Voyage!

the banker,
ahhh chendol. the best is still the one in perlis. we ate oodles of chendol while we were staying in perlis for a month doing the measured drawing of some old houses. pergh memory beb.
nak kena cari jugak ni. chendol pulut. team perlis, jom!
This is going to be cari makan, jalan-jalan.
Hi. Just a note for number 9 under 'Things to do': Try Eubos shower oil for sensitive skin and then lather lots of baby oil/olive oil/bio oil first thing before you sleep and first thing in the morning.
It helped me.
Um, am considering being hypnotised too. For the stubborn scars.
beb, i pun kempunan nak makan sambal ikan bilis nenek ko yien...yumy2..walaupun pedas halangan akan ku tempuhi jua.
u need to get this..OFF THE EDGE FEB 2008 ISSUE..cover page..Marina MAhathir..
and also get this..New Malaysian Essays 1 from Matahari Books by various writers including Amir Muhammad, Saharil hasrin, Burhan Baki etc...etc...
I did love Teroris Bahasa written by Saharil..
Erm, if Perlis is a tad bit too far for you, come over to Sri Rampai, Setapak. You can have the cendol pulut in the evening then adjourn to Mali's Char Kuey Teow for dinner. Maybe add supper to that too! :D
You're not a tempoyak person, are you? And I don't see any cencaluk either.. And nasi kerabu with budu and ayam percik?
must try.....Murtabak KING !! Super duper marvellous..
Nurul! Are you not going home to Malaysia?! What´s up, chica? Will I see you on Saturday when I´m back?
Hey Maja!
Am stuck here in London. I am 99% sure I'll be here when you return =) I'll tell you what's up when we meet, luv.
